Morphing from "Cute baby bump" to "GIGANTOR"

So I think I've figured out my timeline for pregnancy. I start showing right about when I find out I'm pregnant. This is, as you can imagine, SUPER convenient for keeping it a secret until I'm 12-13 weeks pregnant. So I have a pretty decent baby bump, which I might even consider cute on some days, until about 6 months.

At 6 months people start asking if that baby is "coming any day now?" It's got to be a little embarassing for them when I tell them that in fact, I still have 4 months to go.

Then around 8 months people start asking "how many of them do you have in there?!" This happened today at church. I can't help but laugh and not be offended though, especially when it is old men asking me.

And then it happens. About 9 months into the eternal pregnancy-- (with but one month to go... if you haven't been pregnant, it's a lie when they tell you it's only 9 months long. It is definitely a documented 10 months. Proof? 40 weeks/4 weeks in a month= 10 months). But I digress.

Anyways, ... about 9 months into the eternal pregnancy, people start putting on rain ponchos when I get too close. I think that they think I'm going to burst my babyness all over them.

As if giving birth were as easy as popping a zit...

Bring on the oompa-loompas!

P.S. Picture to come next week!

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny found us as well, despite the less-than-warm-enough temperatures!

The day before Easter, I took Brooklyn to a city easter egg hunt that was LAME. We made it early enough to find the 0-4 age group area, and waited by the yellow tape. It seemed like it would be a pretty good hunt until the other 2000 people showed up with their kids-- RIGHT before it started. Then instead of someone saying "go," all of the sudden everyone just ran. I grabbed Brooklyn and took off for the one egg I could see, and managed to get two, more than many kids. Of course, it all happened so fast and there were so many people, I was carrying Brooklyn so she wouldn't get trampled, so she didn't even get to pick up the eggs. Bummer. I had to grab them before the other moms could... :) I gave Brooklyn her two eggs so she could open them, and the next thing I knew, she had thrown them on the ground and was asking where the candy was. ??? Beats me! Who does an easter egg hunt with EMPTY EGGS?! Like I said, LAME.

Anyways, It's a good thing the Easter Bunny found us the next day, because Brooklyn would have been very disappointed. And frankly, I would have been too!

It took a little practice for her to realize that the eggs and candy all over were for her to collect. Apparently, she would have been happy with just a few reeses cups!

And did I mention that I had to wake Brooklyn up?! Seriously... I couldn't wait any longer, I was just too excited for her to get up and see what the Easter Bunny brought!

Then we had a wonderful day with Tim (who the Easter Bunny also brought home for the day) watching Conference. Candy for every meal... I mean really, what could be better?

Hope you had a great Easter too!

P.S. YES, that is what Brooklyn's hair looks like in the morning. And you thought YOU had bad morning hair...

Welcome to Page

This past week Tim had two days off work, but didn't have the work time to spend driving home to visit, so Brooklyn and I made the trek to see him instead! It took us 3 1/2 hours, a small fry and a delicious vanilla frosty shake, a bag of toys and books, and a lot of patience, but we made it! We stayed in Tim's work trailer, which on first inspection, was very nice and pretty roomy (I learned after 2 days how not-roomy it really was).

The sleeping arrangement was, well, less than desirable. Tim and I were fine, but with Brooklyn a mere 5 feet away in her Graco on top of the fold-out couch, it was hard to convince her she needed to go to bed. Needless to say, we developed some VERY bad habits of her going to sleep with us in our double bed (what?! we were in an RV campground and couldn't very well let her scream all night could we?!)

Anyways, on to the better parts of the trip. The next morning, our first real day in Page, we decided to try a hike into Toadstool Canyon (or something like that). Aside from the hurricane force winds rushing through the canyon, and the resulting facial from the sandstorm, it was a nice hike. The rock formations really did look like toadstools. Unfortunately, I, Amber, forgot to bring the camera, so the only pictures we have were taken on my phone. Horrible quality, but you get the idea.

We also tried to do a little fishing in Lake Powell, but it was so windy, it was pretty pointless.

The next day we went on a hike to Horseshoe Bend. If you haven't seen pictures of this, it is BEAUTIFUL! I'm not sure our pictures do it justice because we couldn't take a wide enough picture, but if you don't get the idea, google it.

So it was a fun trip, a very long drive, but totally worth it to see some of Page, and more importantly, to get to see Tim.

Painting Eggs

Now to bury that last post...

Last week for FHE Brooklyn and I painted Easter eggs. Why did we paint rather than dye the eggs? That's what came in the kit of course! So with a bowl of Easter candy (compliments of Grandma Heaton), and a dozen eggs, we began our painting adventure. I was fully prepared for Brooklyn to only paint one egg and having to finish the other 11 myself, but after she got going, it was, "Brooklyn's turn" for every egg. I managed to paint about three I think....

Anyways, she had fun and was disappointed that there were only twelve to be decorated. I'm already looking forward to next year!

I have no idea what we'll do with the boiled eggs now? Probably just stink up the garbage can!

Belly Shot

I know I'm a little back-logged on my blogging, and I promise to get to Easter and our visit to Page to see Tim, but first, here is a belly shot for those of you that were requesting one (ok, that was really just Tana)...

Surprisingly, after looking at the picture, I don't seem as big as I thought I was, or as big as I feel. Not to worry, I still have a good 13 weeks to expand! (Yes, that is more than 3 months to go...)
