Our baby turned ONE today...

Happy Birthday Brooklyn.
I can't believe you turned one today. It really blows my mind. It seems like you were born just yesterday-- and here you are a year old!
Thanks for being such a wonderful little girl.
Here's what you're up to now...

-will sometimes give an open-mouthed, very slobbery kiss
-loves to give hugs
-took 9 steps yesterday
-has 4 teeth
-can successfully go up and down stairs
-likes singing/humming before bedtime
-loves playing with the computer mouse and keyboard
-loves kitty cats
-loves chasing and being chased
-loves driving
-loves fruit snacks
-loves brushing her teeth
-loves her bottle
-likes laughing/giggling
-is happy most of the time
-loves jumping up and down in her crib
-thinks it's funny to poke you in the eyes when you're sleeping
-likes crawling on top of the bed frame

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKLYN!
We had a great party tonight with lots of family. Brooklyn got WAY TOO MANY presents, but I think she had a pretty good time. She even got the hang of opening presents up.

Now she has a carseat that she actually fits in, a keyboard to bang on when I'm on the computer, two new rubber duckies, snacks, a pool and pool toys, a puzzle, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a kitty cat she can call her own for two weeks, a doll, etc. Like I said, WAY too many things for a one year old. She is obviously very spoiled. :) But that's ok because it's her birthday right!?

If you can't tell, and it's hard to with the angle-- her cake has a mother duck with three baby ducklings on it. They turned out to be hybrid between chicks and ducks, but that's close enough right? What can I say-- Brooklyn loves ducks!

So tired...

You know you're tired when you fall asleep sitting up in your chair, while drinking a bottle. So tired... but so funny.

The end of cake classes...

I finally finished my second cake class. I wanted to take the next one, but I would have had to miss too many of the classes. So instead, I'll relocate to AZ and take the classes there.
We put the color-flow we had been learning, on our cakes with the flowers that we had made throughout course 2-- that's why Tana and I both have flower cakes again. I did a turtle color-flow, so Tim suggested that I make a turtle cake. Chocolate ganosh, caramel, and pecans in between the cake layers= YUMMM. Although, surprisingly... it wasn't as good as I imagined it tasting. Oh well, it was a good experiment.
Tana was pro at making daisies so she made the daisy cake.
Ahh, good times driving to Cedar for cake class.






I know these pictures aren't that great, and neither are the cakes... but seriously, cake decorating is hard! But don't take my word for it...

Ahh, relaxing...

I am finding more and more moments when I so badly wish I had my camera on hand. The older Brooklyn gets, the funnier she gets. I really get a kick out of her sometimes. For once though, I actually had my camera. This is Brooklyn relaxing. This is the second time I saw her do this, and I still wonder who she learned it from...?

Strawberries with Aunt Emily

Brooklyn and I took a weekend break and headed up to visit Emily for a few days. We visited the duck pond again and Brooklyn managed to make it within just a few feet of the ducklings-- a feat hard for anyone, but especially a small child that has no idea what "sneaky" or "quietly" means yet.

She also managed to eat the majority of the 2 POUNDS of strawberries that Emily bought for a screaming deal. I wondered how it would affect her digestive system... and it did. But I tried to limit her intake of strawberries-- I really did. And being as she only had two teeth at the time, I cut/bit off bite size pieces for her. But she would have nothing to do with those pieces. Instead, she kept her eyes on the 1 pound containers at all times and whenever I wasn't looking she made her move. I found her several times with a whole strawberry in her mouth.



What else could I do but let her eat them?

Ever wonder what YOU look like sleeping?

I don't know what else to say about this picture, but do you "ever wonder what YOU look like when you're sleeping?" One of the best parts of my evening is going in to check on Brooklyn after she is asleep, and seeing what position she is in. Her strange contortions never ceases to amaze me and I always wonder how little kids can sleep in any position, and they're legs/arms/head, etc. never fall asleep. Is that something we just grow out of?

...it's too bad we don't have a picture showing how high her bum is up in the air. This is definitely a yoga pose..
