Valentine's Cookies

Like I said on a post in December, I just can't get enough of sugar cookies.... so once again, when a holiday rolled around, I thought it was as good of an excuse as any to make cookies to decorate. Thanks to Tim for putting up with this sugar-cookie-making-fetish.

Brooklyn of course was there for moral support as well (and to make sure I didn't have to frost as many cookies)

I've decided that I'm going to take a cake decorating class. Yup, I think I would love it. Now I just have to find somewhere that is offering classes.

It's time for baby-proofing

Last Monday Brooklyn made a few attempts at crawling at lunch group, but when I came home later and told Tim, he wasn't sure he wanted to believe me without some hard proof.

The next night the Bishop and his wife babysat Brooklyn for us, and they also reported that she had crawled. Still, Tim was not a believer.

But the next day, February 11, 2009 is a day that will go down in history as the day Brooklyn showed us she could crawl. We had been waiting for this moment for so long, and it was very exciting to finally see her move more than just her typical rolling around on the floor.

Today, six days later, I'm not sure why I wanted her to learn to crawl. It seems that with crawling, she also learned how to whine and cry (to be picked up especially). I tried filling out some paperwork on the floor a few days ago, but no matter where I went, she was there, trying to help me fill it out. The floor is no longer sacred. Now, if I stop moving around a room and give her enough time to get over to me, she begins pulling at my pants and trying to get me to pick her up-- which, after enough whining, of course I do. Don't get me wrong, we're very excited to have her crawling, but thank goodness it didn't happen sooner!

Here is the first video of Brooklyn crawling-- taken the first day she crawled for both Tim and I at home. Since, she has increased her speed, accuracy (in direction), and endurance x25 (atleast). ...well, the first video will be attached sometime, just not tonight. something's going crazy with this... soon to be attached!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Brooklyn is still not sure what to think about snow. She just knew that it was cold, and late, and dark, and that was enough reason for everyone to be inside. Luckily, we managed to snap this picture of her smiling first.

The next day we all went in the backyard to try to build a snowman. There was PLENTY of snow, but it was definitely not wet enough. Oh well... we managed to create our own Bryce Canyon formation. That's all that we managed to do though, before Brooklyn let us know that she was DONE with being outside in the snow. Truth be told, she wasn't even in the snow-- she was sitting on a blanket on the back porch. But, it was pretty bright, and she was hungry-- thus the cracker in her mouth.

The last weekend in February Grandpa Heaton came out to visit for Great Grandpa Heaton's birthday party. We loved having him here, and so appreciated him reading "Terry Toots" to Brooklyn (her favorite book). We went over the mountain to help family celebrate Great Grandpa's birthday, and after the celebration, a few of us went tubing! It was fun, but Brooklyn preferred trying to scoop up the snow with her spoon.

Cute, cuter, cutest...

Nothing much to say about these pictures-- they're just cute! Cute outfits, cute hair, cute smile, and especially a cute girl!

Other Odds and Ends.

Here are a few other random pictures from the holidays, as well as a video of Brooklyn and Grandma and Grandpa Heaton teaching her to play ball.

The REAL DEAL

So after an eventful Christmas Eve, Santa DID find us the next morning. There was more stuff than we knew what to do with. Each year though, we have a discussion about what time it is acceptable to get up to see what Santa brought. And NOBODY is allowed to go see what he brought until we are all up and ready to go. We decided 8:00 would work, but Brooklyn was definitely not ready to get up at 8. Here's the play-by-play of how she did.

"Why are we awake this early again?"

"I might be up, but I DO NOT have to smile at you yet."

"Whoa morning breath. Yup, you too camera man."

"Fine, I'll open a present to apease you all."

"Happy? Sheesh, the things you people expect from me."

"All right, enough of this. We should be in bed now."

"Maybe if I pretend I'm sleeping, they'll all go back to sleep too..." "ZZZZZ..."
